Procreation (of the Wicked)

Wicked cool, of course...

Jim/James here, starting my own blog, I guess. The inspiration from which comes from Jen being pregnant! Crazy huh? So I figure I'm going to need a great deal of reflection/therapy between now and then, and it might as well begin in blog form.

It's comforting to know that I'm not alone, but the realization that the most intelligent people I know either don't want to have children ever, or don't want to have them for a long time... logic suggests that I must not be included with these intelligent people.

Intelligent or not, I'll have extended my bloodline come next January, and it's time to start figuring out how to cope.

First order of business is, of course... what music is best for a young, developing mind? I don't buy into the whole "if your kid listens to Mozart/Bach/Chopin/etc. he/she will be a genious" scam.

Here's what I want my kid listening to as soon as possible:

Tool - Maybe not the heavy and dynamic songs right away, but the more somber tracks.

Blind Guardian - So fast, so heavy, so inspirational. Maybe he/she will start playing D&D and/or reading LOTR as a result.

Lumsk - Beautiful vocals, great songwriting.

Nightwish - Again, great vocals, good songwriting, and I think this is one of the rare metal bands that anyone of any age could/should get into.

Those are the first that come to mind. Suggestions are welcome. I guess I'll have to wait a few years before I start exposing him/her to more extreme/controversial styles

I think that concludes my first post... I've been working on redesigning the MIGR page if anyone is interested, it's looking pretty slick.

If anyone wants to see my current musical selections, check out my last.fm profile.

Oh, and I really don't like this blog layout, I'm going to have to do some serious tweaking.

[...] First off, I know it’s old news, but congrats to Zipy and The Scientist on their latest creation! The Z. has expressed concern for what is to come, but I was rather terrified at first as well, but it didn’t last long. Hang in there! [...]
